Learning mode
The employee learns your job by watching you work on your computer and in Chrome, then writes the process sheets to take it over.
Where
In an employee's chat: sidebar → Learning mode. One employee at a time per user.
What it does
The employee watches how you work, on your computer (the desktop app, Windows for now) and in Chrome (the extension). From what it sees it writes process sheets, step by step, checks them against your next runs, and in the end can do the job itself.
- It asks first. On the first start it asks, in one short form, your job, the tasks to learn first, the apps you use for them and what it must never look at.
- It guides the setup. It knows whether the desktop app and the extension are missing, not paired with it or too old, and walks you from the right step.
- It begins when it is ready. Starting puts the learning mode in preparation; the employee begins the observation itself once it knows what to learn and a device is connected.
- It analyzes at your rhythm: every 5, 10, 15, 30 or 60 minutes (15 by default), and once a day after 18:00 if something was observed. Analyze now hands it what was observed right away.
- It can do the job. Asked in its chat, it runs a sheet with its browser and computer control, and always asks for approval (Approve / Cancel) before a step marked for human approval.
While it runs, a banner on top of the chat shows the state (getting ready, observing, paused), with Report, Pause / Resume and Stop. You can also ask the employee in its chat to start, pause, resume or stop.
What is recorded, and what never is
Clicks (the element and a screenshot), what you type once the input ends, the lists and boxes you choose, the shortcuts, copy and paste (counted, never their content), the active window or tab, and the idle times.
- Never: the value of a password or sensitive field (card, code, IBAN...); such fields are blacked out on every screenshot before leaving the computer.
- Protected categories, never observed: password managers (always), and by default banks and payment, taxes and administration, health. Each of the last three can be turned off in the panel.
- Your own list: sites (
*.mybank.com,example.com/admin) and apps (KeePass) the employee never sees.
Before the first start, a full explanation must be accepted; withdrawing it stops everything at once. Delete what was observed erases every action, typed value and screenshot (optionally the report too).
The learning report
On the first start the employee gets a private website, protected by a password, at a readable
address (/web/<first>-<last>-learning-report/). It holds the processes and their sheets (with the
apps each one goes through and the time spent in each), today's timeline, the Activity and
Screenshots tabs, and the employee's questions, which you answer right in the report (or with
Other...). Download gives it as PDF or Markdown. The link, username and password are in the
Learning mode panel, also when the learning mode is off.
Devices
| Device | Version needed | What it observes |
|---|---|---|
| Desktop app (Windows) | 1.0.55 | the other apps on the computer |
| Chrome extension | 1.4.1 | the web pages |
Desktop learning is Windows only for now: on a Mac, the app does not observe anything.
