Clear Session

End the running session and start fresh — what goes, and what stays.

Where

Employee sidebar → Settings → Clear Session.

What it does

Ends the current working session and starts fresh.

What it does not do is erase the employee. Its instructions, skills, files, memory and history all stay. What goes is the running context — the thread in flight, which is also what is holding memory in its container.

An employee idle for days with a container still up is a good candidate.

When to use it

Between two tasks. A conversation left to fill up gets compacted, and a compaction summarises the previous summary. Clearing starts the next task on a clean thread instead — see the context gauge for the full reasoning.

Save first. Ask the employee to write down what matters — a file, a note in its memory, a card on its kanban — before clearing.

What breaks

Clearing mid-task loses the reasoning in flight, not the work already written to files. If an employee is halfway through something, let it finish or expect it to restart from what is on disk.
